How to rotate a reader link

Rotating generates a new secret for the same link. The old URL stops working immediately; the link keeps its name and mailbox permissions.

1. Go to Dashboard → Reader Links.
2. Open the menu on the link and choose Rotate token.
3. Confirm. Copy the new URL and update any bookmarks or devices that used the old one.

When to rotate

• You pasted the link somewhere public (chat, ticket, document, screenshot).
• A device that had the link was lost, sold or shared.
• Someone who should no longer have access has seen it.
• Regularly, as a precaution, for links used on shared machines.

To stop access temporarily without changing the URL, use Disable instead. Disabled links show “This reader link is no longer available” until you enable them again.
